This is a color LCD & Joystick shield board for Arduino or Freeduino board, which has unique features:

• Use popular Nokia 6610 LCD, 4K color and 128x128 pixels .
• Directly plug into the Arduino or Freeduino board
• Has a 5-direction Joystick , but only use ONE ADC PIN on Arudino.
• Supplied with fully functional Arduino library & demo application sketch

Programming Notes

 The Nokia LCD is controlled by Arduino's SPI port at 3.3V logic,  the schematic can be download from here Color LCD & Joystick shield v1.0 schematic

5-direction Joystick -- This is used to provide user input for the Color LCD,.To save the precious digital I/O pin resource. The Joystick only uses ONE A/D channel – AD0. The 5 pushbuttons are connected to AD0 via a 5-stage resistor voltage divider, please refer to the schematic for details.

Nokia_lcd Library & Demo application

The Nokia_lcd library provides basic graphic functions that can draw pixels, lines, characters, bitmaps, boxes, circles and etc.  Some of the results can be seen in the photos on the left hand side.  The Demo application also provide an interrupt-driven Joystick control routine, which can be used to accept user inputs and menu navigation.

1. Download the Nokia_lcd library HERE
2. Unzip the library inside arduino-0011/hardware/libraries/
3. Start the Arduino IDE and import the Nokia_lcd library.
   
4. You might run the demo applicationNokia_lcd_menu.pde to test the LCD and the Joystick.  The result is shown on the photos on the left.
